Metrics: Mail tab

The Metrics: Mail tab contains a number of widgets that display various statistics about email that has been processed by the system.

The data displayed in each individual widget can be reloaded by clicking the reload button at the top right corner of the widget. View the widget data in XML/JSON format by clicking the code (source) button. A brief overview of each widget is displayed in a pop-up when you click the help icon.

Use appliance selector widget to select appliances to monitor. Initially no appliances are selected. Click the Appliance: None Selected server link and select one or more appliances from the pop-up. You can also set a Time range and the Time zone.

Mail attachments

The Mail attachments widget displays the number of each attachment type found in email messages.

Queued mail graph

The Queued mails graph widget shows the number of emails in the queue waiting to be analyzed. This graph is only available for appliances with mail analysis enabled.

  • Mail analysis pending — The number of queued messages that are pending local analysis by the sensor.

  • Attachment analysis pending — The number of messages having attachment that are pending submission to the backend for in-depth analysis.

The following metrics are for inline MTA sensors only:

  • Analysis completion pending — The number of messages for which we are waiting the outcome of the in-depth analysis from the backend.

  • number of messages that have been fully analyzed and that are pending delivery to the next hop

    Delivery pending — The number of messages that have been fully analyzed and that are pending delivery to the next hop.

  • Notification delivery pending — The number of delivery notification messages that are pending delivery.

Mail received

The Mail received widget provides an overview of the number of email messages that have been processed by the appliances with mail analysis enabled. The x-axis depicts the time and the y-axis the number of messages. The legend marks each appliance with a different color.

Mail attachments blocked

The Mail attachments blocked (MTA Only) widget shows the number of email attachments that have been blocked. This widget only displays data for appliances with mail analysis enabled and in inline mode (MTA).

Mail delivery failure notifications

The Mail delivery failure notifications (MTA Only) widget shows the number of delivery status notifications sent. This widget only displays data for appliances with mail analysis enabled and in inline mode (MTA).
